Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Research Technician with proven laboratory skills to contribute to our protein science division, which is centered on discovering lead therapeutic antibody candidates for clinical trials. The ideal applicant is proactive, collaborative, and thrives in a dynamic environment with competing priorities. This role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of one of Canada's leading biotech firms and to play a significant role in pioneering research aimed at developing novel monoclonal and multispecific antibodies for therapeutic applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive characterization of antibodies and multispecifics utilizing analytical and biophysical methods, including ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and light scattering techniques (DLS, MALS).
- Concentrate and formulate antibodies to assess their drug-like characteristics, such as viscosity and aggregation.
- Contribute to assay development and troubleshooting efforts to enhance the understanding of the developability attributes of potential therapeutic candidates.
- Plan and execute experiments independently or collaboratively with team members.
- Work alongside colleagues to analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental data effectively.
- Support cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and timelines.
- Enhance your technical expertise and engage in continuous professional development.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience or a keen interest in protein characterization techniques, including analytical chromatography (HPLC / UPLC), capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS), and light scattering (DLS, SEC-MALS). Experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, Structural Biology, or a related field.
- A critical thinker with a curiosity for exploring new technologies and improving antibody characterization workflows.
- Strong data analysis capabilities with the ability to convey and document results for diverse audiences.
- A creative problem solver and quick learner who values teamwork in addressing complex scientific challenges.
- Self-motivated with the initiative to meet objectives under tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
Compensation and Benefits:
AbCellera offers a competitive salary range of CAD $53,900 - $67,300 annually, based on education and relevant experience. In addition to the base salary, we provide equity options, an annual performance-based bonus, and a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution.
