About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team at Chalex Construction Ltd. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, taping joints, and applying successive coats of compound to ensure a smooth finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets to create a solid foundation for our construction projects
  • Apply joint compound to seams and joints, and smooth out excess compound to achieve a seamless finish
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and ensure a durable finish
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
  • Position and secure drywall sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
Work Environment

As a Drywall Installer, you will work in a fast-paced construction environment with varying locations. You will be required to work in dusty conditions and handle heavy loads, making physical demands a significant aspect of this role.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in drywall installation
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions and handle heavy loads
  • Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) weight handling
Work Term and Language

This is a permanent position with a 30 to 44 hour workweek. English is the primary language spoken in the workplace.
