Beta-i • collaborative innovation is seeking an experienced and passionate Associate Executive Director to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving our organization's strategic plan and ensuring the effective functioning of our Governing Circle and Survivor's Circle.
Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures and the decisions of the Governing Circle.
- Advise and support the Executive Director on issues, change management, and administrative matters.
- Coordinate any necessary supports to major fundraising initiatives.
- Coordinate with Unit Leads to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop an effective project reporting template for projects and initiatives.
- Support the Executive Director in the implementation and evaluation of NCTR's Strategic Plan.
- Ensure that all NCTR operations have the capacity needed and are oriented to the fulfillment of the Strategic Plan.
- Ensure the effective functioning of the Governing Circle and Survivor's Circle.
- Support the timely recruitment of Governing Circle and Survivor's Circle members as well as Elder Advisors.
- Maintain up-to-date bylaws.
PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT).
Masters level or advanced degree is required, preferably in Law. Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience, primarily in First Nations/Métis/Inuit organizations in a policy, programming, research, administration, or negotiation, or leadership role, is required. Experience with resources and financial management is required. Previous administrative experience in a relevant environment is essential. Experience in strategic planning, development, and implementation is essential. Previous academic administrative experience will be an asset. Experience in identifying and developing partnerships to secure funding will be an asset. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must have a full and complete understanding of the impact of colonization and the legacy of the residential schools on Indigenous Peoples in Canada and be passionately committed to decolonization actions, education, and training to mitigate the stereotypes and myths applied to Indigenous Peoples. Must have the ability to provide effective guidance, mentorship, leadership, and delegation. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Strong multitasking, time-management, and organizational skills are required. Proficiency with various software applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn additional programs required. Strong problem-solving skills required, as well as being able to foresee upcoming situations and take initiative in handling them. Ability to foster strong communications flows is required. Ability to deal effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, students, and the public required. Knowledge of University policies and procedures in accounting is an asset. Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
