We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Executive Director to join our team at Beta-i • collaborative innovation. This is a full-time position that will play a key role in supporting the Executive Director in the implementation and evaluation of our Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures and the decisions of the Governing Circle.
- Advises and supports the Executive Director on issues, change management, and administrative matters.
- Coordinates any necessary supports to major fundraising initiatives.
- Coordinates with Unit Leads to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develops an effective project reporting template for projects and initiatives.
- Support the Executive Director in the implementation and evaluation of NCTR's Strategic Plan.
- Ensure that all NCTR operations have the capacity needed and are oriented to the fulfillment of the Strategic Plan.
- Ensuring the effective functioning of the Governing Circle and Survivor's Circle.
- Supporting the timely recruitment of Governing Circle and Survivor's Circle members as well as Elder Advisors.
- Maintaining up-to-date by-laws.
- PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INDIGENOUS CANDIDATES. APPLICANTS MUST SELF-DECLARE ON THEIR COVER LETTER/RESUME AS INDIGENOUS (FIRST NATION, METIS AND/OR INUIT).
- MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Masters level or advanced degree is required, preferably in Law.
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience, primarily in First Nations/Métis/Inuit organizations in a policy, programming, research, administration, or negotiation, or leadership role, is required.
- Experience with resources and financial management is required.
- Previous administrative experience in a relevant environment is essential.
- Experience in strategic planning, development, and implementation is essential.
- Previous academic administrative experience will be an asset.
- Experience in identifying and developing partnerships to secure funding will be an asset.
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a full and complete understanding of the impact of colonization and the legacy of the residential schools on Indigenous Peoples in Canada and be passionately committed to de-colonization actions, education, and training to mitigate the stereotypes and myths applied to Indigenous Peoples.
- Must have the ability to provide effective guidance, mentorship, leadership, and delegation.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
- Strong multi-tasking, time-management, and organizational skills are required.
- Proficiency with various software applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and a willingness to learn additional programs required.
- Strong problem-solving skills required, as well as being able to foresee upcoming situations and take initiative in handling them.
- Ability to foster strong communications flows is required.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, students, and the public required.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures in accounting is an asset.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
