Position Overview

The Health and Safety Administrative Specialist will be an integral part of the Health and Safety Team, reporting directly to the Superintendent of Health and Safety. This role operates on a 4X3 schedule at the Ekati Diamond Mine, focusing on providing administrative support to health and safety advisors and emergency response team coordinators.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Fulfill all reporting obligations as directed by management.
  2. Manage SAP entries efficiently.
  3. Serve as a resource for the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC).
  4. Maintain and analyze statistics related to health and safety incidents, advising on proactive measures based on trends.
  5. Oversee Controlled Document Management.
  6. Track and report on site-wide monthly safety meetings.
  7. Assist in budget management and consultant program support.
  8. Ensure policies, programs, and procedures are in place for a safe working environment.
  9. Support the emergency response team and respond effectively during emergencies.
  10. Manage the Immediate Recognition Program.
  11. Contribute to the accident investigation program, ensuring accurate reporting and root cause identification.
  12. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education:

Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in the mining or related industry, preferably in remote settings.

Demonstrated high energy levels, self-motivation, and strong organizational capabilities.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with all organizational levels.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Physical capability to navigate stairs, walk long distances, and lift items weighing up to 40 lbs periodically.

Certification in Health and Safety or a combination of relevant courses and direct experience in Occupational Health and Safety.

Interest in occupational health, safety management systems, and corporate governance.

A degree in Business Administration or a suitable combination of education and experience.

Ability to prioritize tasks based on critical deadlines.

Capability to deliver presentations on safety awareness and related topics.
