The Instructional Technology Specialist will play a pivotal role in enhancing educational practices at Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne. This full-time position is dedicated to fostering effective teaching methodologies and integrating technology into various learning environments, including in-person, remote, hybrid, and fully online settings.
Key Responsibilities:
As a specialist in instructional design, the incumbent will:
- Support the Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning in all pedagogical matters.
- Coordinate and develop programs aimed at enhancing faculty and staff teaching capabilities.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Coordinator to assist faculty and schools with curriculum mapping for accreditation and review processes.
The Specialist will:
- Design and implement instructor and graduate student support programs, including workshops and personalized consultations.
- Lead training sessions focused on the integration of instructional technology in courses, emphasizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
- Work alongside IT and Student Success teams to create comprehensive training materials and resources for staff and students.
In addition, the Specialist will:
- Provide individualized support to academic units in curriculum mapping for review purposes.
- Guide faculty in developing learning outcomes for courses and programs.
- Promote awareness of the significance of learning outcomes within the broader university community.
The Specialist is expected to:
- Stay informed about current practices in educational development, AODA compliance, and the use of Generative AI in teaching.
- Participate in webinars, online communities, and conferences related to educational advancement.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Master’s Degree in Distance Education, Educational Technology, or a related discipline.
- Two to five years of experience in Educational Development, particularly in distance learning or adult education.
- A strong background in delivering online and hybrid educational materials.
- Proficiency in technological tools for teaching across various formats.
- Excellent research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency in both English and French.
