Job Title: Application Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Application Support Specialist to join our team at Stackitrecruitment in Downtown Toronto. This is a 4-month contract opportunity that requires a hybrid work arrangement, with 2-3 days per week spent in the office.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of applications by monitoring, maintaining, and restoring services to meet business needs. This involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, end-users, and technical specialists to troubleshoot issues, support deployments, and contribute to continuous system improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work within a cross-functional team to ensure seamless application support
  • Interface with various end-users, business analysts, implementation specialists, help desk analysts, system and network administrators, and developers to resolve issues and improve system performance
  • Monitor, maintain, and restore service for applications to ensure service level agreements are met
  • Support existing systems and assist in root cause analysis and resolution
  • Analyze and complete ad-hoc report requests to provide valuable insights to stakeholders
  • Document and communicate assigned work and issues to ensure transparency and accountability
  • Help to develop knowledge assets required for the operation to ensure continuous improvement
  • Coordinate incident and service interruption notification to ensure timely communication
  • Ad-hoc report and SQL script peer review to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Support after business hour and weekend IT-related activities on a rotational basis, including production deployment, server patching, and disaster recovery exercises
  • Provide after business hour on-call support on a rotational basis to ensure 24/7 coverage
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 2+ years of experience in application support and operations
  • Intermediate level in SQL script and reporting
  • Intermediate level in relational databases and MS SQL server
  • Intermediate level in Windows Server operation and troubleshooting
  • Able to identify problems, collect information, and resolve issues with occasional guidance
  • Good understanding of business processes and technology operations for multiple systems
  • Able to effectively coordinate with internal and external teams on problem-solving
  • Ability to work in a team environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of application monitoring and ticket system operations
  • Knowledge of support and operation practices, concepts, technology, and tool stacks
Compensation:
  • $30.00/hour
