About the Role

The Global Wholesale and Risk Technology Team at Scotiabank is seeking an experienced Application Support Specialist to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing 1st line application support, ensuring incident and change management processes are executed as mandated, and managing resolution of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide day-to-day support to all units globally to resolve highly complex and multi-faceted business problems, including new and existing product and deal structuring, ad hoc queries and MIS, user training, and assisting with the design and implementation of systems enhancements.
  2. Ensure advanced knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, risk management methodologies and models, and best practices.
  3. Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Division's business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and rapidly changing technology.
  4. Provide afterhours support via an on-call pager on a rotational basis, especially for application releases during a maintenance window or for other maintenance activities.
Requirements
  1. 7 years experience with OOP Programming, Java, Enterprise Edition Java - J2EE.
  2. Must have experience with Spring Boot framework.
  3. Exposure to Agile methodologies, Angular, Vue JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
  4. Exposure to Java streaming experience with Kafka, Elastic Search, Python.
  5. Experience with DevOps, version control system such as Bitbucket, Jenkins.
  6. Solid understanding of financial markets and products, in particular Derivative Products.
  7. Strong experience with log analysis, monitoring applications, and vendor app analysis tools.
  8. A strong focus on client service and delivery with trading desk facing experience.
  9. Working knowledge of MarkitWire. (Knowledge with WSS, ICELink would be an asset)
  10. Experience supporting trading systems and how trades flow front to back. Should be comfortable assessing trading systems/components to investigate trade breaks, connectivity, and data issues.
