Job Title: FireSmart Coordinator

Seabird Island Band is seeking a highly motivated and experienced FireSmart Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Emergency Preparedness team, you will play a critical role in coordinating and implementing the FireSmart program within our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct home assessments and provide recommendations for wildfire risk mitigation
  • Organize and execute community events, workshops, and seminars on FireSmart principles
  • Partner with local organizations and schools to promote FireSmart initiatives
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and stakeholders
  • Provide educational sessions and one-on-one consultations on wildfire safety and prevention
  • Oversee mitigation projects and allocate resources as needed
Requirements:
  • WSPP-115 and S-100 certificates are considered assets
  • First Aid Level 1 and OHS certificates are an asset
  • FireSmart training is considered an asset
  • Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions
