Job Title: FireSmart Coordinator

Seabird Island Band is seeking a highly motivated and experienced FireSmart Coordinator to join our team. As a FireSmart Coordinator, you will play a critical role in coordinating and implementing the FireSmart program within our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct home assessments and provide recommendations for wildfire risk mitigation.
  • Organize and execute community events, workshops, and seminars on FireSmart principles.
  • Partner with local organizations and schools to promote FireSmart initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Provide educational sessions and one-on-one consultations on wildfire safety and prevention.
  • Oversee the work plans and schedules for the mitigation crew.
Requirements:
  • WSPP-115 and S-100 certificates are considered assets.
  • First Aid Level 1 and OHS certificates are an asset.
  • FireSmart training is considered an asset.
  • Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community or knowledge of Seabird Island's culture and traditions is an asset.
