Job Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking an E-commerce and Retail Shop Operations Manager.

In this role, you will be an integral part of the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) Gift Shop team, overseeing both our online and physical retail environments. Your primary focus will be to enhance profitability and ensure an outstanding customer experience across both platforms.

E-commerce Responsibilities:

  • Manage the VGH Gift Shop website on Shopify, ensuring cost-effective operations that maximize contributions to essential hospital programs.
  • Utilize marketing skills and innovative strategies to keep the online gift shop relevant and responsive to customer needs.
  • Establish website objectives and develop online strategies to meet business goals.
  • Oversee product onboarding, content creation, SEO initiatives, and user experience enhancements.
  • Analyze sales data, customer behavior, and market trends to inform strategic decisions.

Retail Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with another Gift Shop Manager to ensure the efficient operation of the VGH Gift Shop's physical location.
  • Supervise and support a team of volunteers, ensuring effective task completion and providing assistance as needed.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and manage order fulfillment processes to drive engagement and retention.
  • Assist with inventory management, receiving, and merchandising within the store.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Business or Marketing Management.
  • Three to five years of relevant retail management experience, including merchandising and marketing.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven ability to create and implement effective marketing campaigns and merchandising strategies.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Strong understanding of current retail trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with staff and volunteers while providing guidance and feedback.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties required of the position.
