The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Program Educator to join our Mental Health and Addictions team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will collaborate with colleagues to provide training experiences, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI), to IWK Mental Health & Addictions staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver NCI training according to IWK policies, integrating Trauma Informed Care principles into all trainings.
  • Facilitate/deliver program-wide education, including orientation and workshops, on Respectful Workplace, Code White procedures, and policy rollouts.
  • Undertake projects to enhance psychological, emotional, and physical safety for clients and staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a health profession.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) NCI Trainer certification.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an NCI instructor.
  • Three to five years of clinical experience in a mental health and addictions setting.
  • Competency in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom.
  • Experience with principles of adult learning and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage learners effectively.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Promotes cultural humility and facilitates knowledge transfer within the MHA Program.
  • Understanding of the populations served, including cultural awareness, equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with principles of Trauma-Informed Care and awareness of trauma prevalence.
  • Understanding of the stages of change.
  • Respectful Workplace instructor training is an asset.
