Role Summary:
We are in search of an enthusiastic and inquisitive Accounting and Statutory Reporting Lead who will ensure the timely and precise accounting and financial reporting for our Canadian insurance operations, adhering to IFRS, US GAAP, and OSFI regulations. This role will involve close collaboration with various departments (Actuarial, Regulatory, and Finance) and will take charge of the coordination of quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc filings.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a solid history of managing multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, showcasing teamwork and adaptability in high-pressure situations. They should possess the ability to prioritize communications and requests, as well as contribute to the development, coordination, and optimization of processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage P&C reporting to OSFI and provincial regulators for the Trupanion Canada insurance entity;
- Prepare and/or review statutory financial statements for the insurance entities;
- Review standard account reconciliations, analyses, and journal entries;
- Prepare complex account reconciliations;
- Assist with specialized technical accounting issues related to IFRS standards as necessary (e.g., IFRS 17, investments, mergers & acquisitions, disposition activities, internally generated intangible capitalization, leases, and goodwill/intangible impairment analysis);
- Support the implementation and development of accounting policy memorandums under IFRS;
- Serve as the primary liaison to the external audit team, which includes preparing and obtaining schedules, completing substantive procedures, and ensuring that all requested deliverables are submitted by the agreed timelines;
- Provide ad hoc project support as needed.
Required Experience:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the Property & Casualty sector
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- CPA designation preferred

Compensation:
- The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 – 115,000 CAD, based on a full-time schedule.
- In addition to the base salary, Trupanion employees may qualify for monthly bonuses.
- We aim for all employees to share in Trupanion's success, hence we offer Restricted Stock Units to all new team members, which vest over a period of 4 years.
