Job Summary:

We have an opening for a Product Safety Engineer within the Industrial Group at our headquarters. This role involves conducting certifications and gaining a thorough understanding of testing methodologies for various Industrial Control Devices in accordance with Canadian and US standards. Key responsibilities include project management, report writing, and effective communication with clients. Regular updates and status reports will be provided to management and relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean work environment while utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. The Level I Certifier will handle projects of limited complexity, with increasing difficulty as proficiency develops. Employ standard engineering practices and procedures to address client inquiries and technical challenges. Interpret technical requirements accurately within the assigned scope of work. Collaborate with a mentor until fully qualified, ensuring timely project completion. Prepare work orders for testing programs, with guidance as needed, and work closely with laboratory staff and mentors to identify applicable tests. Draft certification reports, Certificates of Compliance, and other relevant documentation. All projects and assignments will undergo review by qualified certifiers for accuracy and adherence to quality standards. Seek technical assistance from qualified personnel and assigned mentors as necessary. Engage in ongoing training through the CSA Group training system, including online courses and mentorship in specific product and standard areas. Manage multiple projects effectively, adapting to changing priorities and timelines. Maintain clear and effective communication with clients. Willingness to travel as required for business needs.

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years of relevant industry experience, or Certification as an Engineering Technologist/Technician or Licensed Tradesperson with 3-5 years of industry experience. Familiarity with industrial control equipment standards and the Canadian Electrical Code is preferred. Understanding of laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, along with general laboratory practices. Additional qualifications may be necessary based on the specific needs of the business unit.
