Job Summary:

As a key member of the CSA Group team, the Product Safety Certification Specialist will work under the direct supervision of a Fully Qualified Certifier to complete simple certification projects. This role involves making assisted technical decisions based on knowledge, training, and experience to maintain the integrity of the CSA Mark.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work on projects of limited complexity, increasing in difficulty as the specialist develops, using standard engineering methods and techniques, operating procedures, and divisional quality documents to respond to problems and client inquiries.
  • Resolve technical issues to determine the appropriate interpretation of technical requirements within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with mentors and lab staff to determine applicable tests and prepare certification reports, certificates of compliance, and other related CSA documentation.
  • Receive technical assistance from qualified technical staff and assigned mentors as required.
  • Participate in the CSA Group training system, including training from the Learning Institute online/Certifier University in the assigned product/standard area under the direction of a mentor and Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 0-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist/technician, Licensed Trades with 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, as well as general laboratory procedures.
  • Additional expertise and experience may be required depending on the needs of the business unit.
