The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Genomics Technologist I to join our team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our Clinical Genomics department, you will play a critical role in providing lab services for diagnostic purposes to support clinical care, as well as academic and research needs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform PCR, sequencing, and other molecular diagnostic techniques to analyze genetic material
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including gel electrophoresis machines and microarrays
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely results
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in genomics and molecular diagnostics
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a recognized Clinical Genetics Technology program
  • Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or Microarray techniques preferred
  • Valid Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technology (NSCMLT) license or eligibility required
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
