Clinical Genomics Technologist I provides lab services for diagnostic purposes to support clinical care and academic research needs.
About IWK HealthIWK Health is a respected academic health sciences centre located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, providing tertiary and primary care for two million children, youth, adults and families each year across the Atlantic region.
Responsibilities- Perform PCR, sequencing, MLPA, RAD, Microarray, and NGS analysis
- Operate and maintain common laboratory equipment/instruments
- QA/QC procedures and documentation
- Problem-solve at a basic, operational level using an analytical approach
- Cytogenetic specimen set up, tissue culture and harvest
- Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a recognized Clinical Genetics Technology program
- Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or Microarray techniques preferred
- Valid Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technology (NSCMLT) license or eligibility required
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates effective problem solving, organizational, time management and prioritization skills
This is a permanent hourly position with a competitive hourly rate. The successful candidate will be eligible to receive a one-time signing bonus and will be required to return of service for a two-year period.
