Clinical Genomics Technologist I

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Genomics Technologist I to join our team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our diagnostic services team, you will play a critical role in providing lab services for diagnostic purposes to support clinical care, as well as academic and research needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform PCR (including RT-PCR and fluorescent PCR) and sequencing, MLPA, RAD, Microarray, and NGS analysis
- Operate and maintain common laboratory equipment/instruments, including gel electrophoresis
- Problem-solve at a basic, operational level using an analytical approach
- Cytogenetic specimen set up, tissue culture, and harvest
- Ensure QA/QC procedures and documentation are completed in accordance with established operational policies and protocols
- Perform duties in compliance with safety guidelines and legislation pertaining to healthcare
- Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a recognized Clinical Genetics Technology program
- Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or Microarray techniques is preferred
- Valid Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technology (NSCMLT) license or eligibility is required
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective problem-solving, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative team environment
- Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to technical expertise and professional development
