The Faculty of Liberal Studies is actively recruiting part-time professors to deliver engaging First Nations, Métis, and Inuit focused General Education courses.

  • GNED 1473: Conflict, Colonization, and Courage: First Nations, Métis, and Inuit in Canada
  • GNED 1475: First Nations, Métis and Inuit Representation in Media and Popular Culture
  • GNED 1477: Then, Now, Forever – Indigenous Resiliency in the Modern Era
  • GNED 1479: The Forgotten People: Exploring Métis Identity – Then, Now, Forever - Indigenous Resiliency in the Modern Era

Part-Time Faculty Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds, experiences, and learning styles.
  • Employ adult education principles to actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Leverage educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses effectively.
  • Develop curriculum utilizing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning comprehensively.
  • Ensure course and program content remains current and relevant to the evolving needs of students.
  • Demonstrate initiative and work independently while collaborating effectively with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A relevant bachelor's degree (a master's or PhD is an asset).
  • Minimum of five years of recent and relevant work experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who identify as members of Inuit, Métis, and/or First Nations communities. A deep understanding of the challenges and triumphs faced by Indigenous populations in Canada is essential.
  • Proven teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated grasp of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and current assessment methodologies.
  • Experience in industry-led or community-based applied research is highly valued.
  • A genuine commitment to prioritizing the student experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing current technologies to support student learning and grade management.
  • A dedication to continuous professional development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners.
  • Familiarity with the Ontario college system.
