Role Summary

Samsung Electronics Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of matters, including intellectual property, employment law, and corporate compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice on complex technology matters, including cloud, AI, and machine learning initiatives
  • Support the commercialization and protection of intellectual property matters by providing sound legal advice on various projects and agreements
  • Provide legal support and advice on employment law matters, including drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, and other employment-related documents
  • Conduct employment and compliance investigations
  • Draft and negotiate contracts and transactional documents in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Identify and advise on privacy obligations and data management, including cyber security, data transfers, and privacy impact assessments
  • Monitor and report on legislative developments and prepare for legislative/regulatory changes

Requirements

  • Law degree from a Canadian school or a recognized international school
  • Called to the bar and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or the law society of another Canadian province
  • Extensive knowledge of intellectual property law, employment law, and contracts/contract negotiation
  • Solid legal training in corporate commercial law gained from a law firm or corporate setting with 3 to 5 years of experience
