Job Summary
The Senior Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and support to Samsung Research Canada and Samsung Canada on various matters, including intellectual property, employment law, and corporate compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate commercial law and experience in negotiating and drafting contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on intellectual property matters, including copyright, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets
- Support the commercialization and protection of intellectual property
- Provide strategic advice on complex technology matters, including cloud, AI, and machine learning initiatives
- Provide legal support and advice on employment law matters, including drafting and reviewing employment contracts and policies
- Conduct employment and compliance investigations
- Draft and negotiate contracts and transactional documents in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Identify and advise on privacy obligations and data management
- Monitor and report on legislative developments and prepare for legislative/regulatory changes
Requirements
- Law degree from a Canadian school or a recognized international school
- Called to the bar and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or the law society of another Canadian province
- Extensive knowledge of intellectual property law, employment law, and contracts/contract negotiation
- Solid legal training in corporate commercial law gained from a law firm or corporate setting with 3 to 5 years of experience
