Job Summary

The shíshálh Nation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community Events Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Wellness Center, you will play a vital role in planning and executing events and programs that promote the health and well-being of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Coordination
    • Coordinate event management activities, resources, and information, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
    • Plan, facilitate, and provide onsite coordination for community events, including venue selection, menu approval, entertainment, and cultural protocol observation.
    • Coordinate planning for specified programs, such as the Summer Fun Program, including location scouting, facilitator booking, and activity organization.
  • Communication and Promotion
    • Plan and coordinate event and program communication, including advertising and information content for social media platforms and newsletters.
  • Record Keeping and Administration
    • Ensure all electronic files and records are catalogued by year for easy reference.
  • Community Engagement
    • Act as the main point of contact for all events and specified programs.
    • Plan, facilitate, and coordinate evidence-based wellness-related workshops, programs, and presentations for youth, families, and the community.
    • Work with the wellness team, education, health, and social development departments to develop, deliver, and evaluate culturally relevant wellness promotion and education programs.
  • Professional Development
    • Demonstrate behaviors, actions, and attitudes consistent with the Nation's vision, mission, and values.
    • Maintain a positive and professional image at all times.
Requirements
  • Completed education in event planning, business administration, or a related field, and at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Strong PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, MailChimp, and graphic design skills are an asset.
  • Strong accounting/budgeting background is an asset.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Experience in a First Nation environment providing Child/Youth Wellness Health services.
  • Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities.
