Senior Project Manager - Construction (Buildings)

Location: Halifax

Reporting to: Regional Director - Atlantic

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead safety initiatives by implementing the Safety Program and overseeing the safety performance of the project team and subcontractors.
  2. Oversee planning, scheduling, and setting objectives while managing activities throughout the construction phase of projects in collaboration with the Project Superintendent and Project Team.
  3. Administer and manage prime contracts and subcontracts, including the negotiation and awarding of subcontracts.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Degree in a construction-related field.
  2. Experience in General Contracting with direct project management or coordination of industrial projects.
  3. Proven expertise in safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality assurance, and administration.
  4. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project; familiarity with Viewpoint Project Management system is advantageous.
  2. Bilingual abilities.

Additional Duties:

  1. Conduct cost reviews and identify potential revenue opportunities.
  2. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on financial and overall project performance for Senior Management.
  3. Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.
