Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Island Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, treatment, and support to clients with mental health and addiction issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct group and individual therapy sessions, as well as provide education and support to clients and their families.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and treatment plans.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution.
  • Recognized post-basic education related to mental illness and/or alcohol and drug addiction.
  • Two years of recent related experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated competence in the treatment of addiction and mental illness.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
