We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Truck Operator to join our team at METROPOLITAN TRANSPORT LTD.. This position involves operating large vehicles for the transportation of goods across various distances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Exhibit expertise in mountain driving.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Operate as part of a two-person team or in a convoy.
  • Load and unload freight efficiently.
  • Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage.
  • Conduct brake adjustments and perform emergency roadside repairs.
  • Carry out pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch.
  • Document cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping.
Licenses and Certifications
  • AZ class license
  • Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
Documentation Skills
  • Familiarity with accident reports and incident documentation.
  • Ability to manage bills of lading and driver logbooks.
  • Experience with inspection and maintenance reports.
  • Knowledge of trans-border documentation and trip reports.
Equipment and Transportation Experience
  • Experience with dry bulk, flatbed, and tractor-trailer operations.
  • Proficient in using GPS and other navigation systems.
  • Familiar with citizens band (CB) radio communication.
Travel Requirements
  • Willingness to travel internationally and cross-border.
  • Ability to work on long-haul and short-haul routes.
  • Prepared to travel overnight and for extended periods.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to handle heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage a large workload.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.
