Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Recreation Aide to join our team at The Care Group, Braddan Private Hospital, Point Grey Private Hospital in Vancouver, B.C.
This is a casual position, requiring flexibility to work on an as-needed basis for events, staff coverage, and other activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging recreation programs for residents, including outings, exercises, crafts, social events, entertainment, games, and other activities.
- Assist residents with mobility and provide personal care during recreational activities as needed.
- Observe and report any changes in residents' behavior or physical condition to the supervisor and/or nurse.
- Ensure recreational equipment and supplies are used, maintained, and stored safely and efficiently.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, meetings, committees, and educational in-services as required.
- Assist with the orientation of new residents and maintain statistical records.
Requirements
- Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate or diploma program.
- Experience in a senior-focused recreation department is an asset.
- Basic First Aid Certificate (current).
- Food Safe Course or equivalent (current).
- Proof of COVID vaccination.
About Our Facility
The Care Group's Casa Mia is a heritage home offering 90 long-term care beds, with primarily single-occupancy rooms and expansive views of the Fraser River and surrounding landscape.
Our facility features three stories with a grand dining area, ballroom, recreation areas, and large outdoor patios on each floor, providing a modern care environment with a touch of Vancouver's heritage.
We work in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, offering 58 subsidized care beds and 32 private pay beds.
