Position Overview

Join our dedicated team at Prairie Sky School Inc. as a Student Support Specialist. This permanent role involves providing essential assistance to students in an urban educational environment.

Key Details
  • Work Term: Permanent

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program, or a non-university certificate or diploma of 1 to 2 years
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months in a relevant field
Work Environment

This role is set in an urban area, where you will engage with students during both academic and extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities
  • Support students during school hours and activities.
  • Assist individuals or small groups with their assignments, reinforcing key learning concepts under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the school principal.
  • Oversee students during school and extracurricular events.
  • Monitor student behavior during recess and lunch periods.
  • Facilitate student integration into the classroom and school environment.
  • Help maintain classroom inventory.
  • Track and report on student progress to the classroom teacher.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following certifications:

  • Food allergy and anaphylaxis training
  • CPR Certification
Experience with Special Needs

Experience working with children with special needs is highly valued, including:

  • Children diagnosed with ADHD or ADD
