Shift Details: 25-hour shifts covering days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Compensation: $8612 per hour, in accordance with the CUPE LOCAL 822 Collective Agreement.

Under the supervision of the Manager of Morningstar Centre, the Community Care Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the admission, care, and discharge processes of clients throughout their recovery journey.

This position plays a crucial role in facilitating transitions through various stages of change, providing essential support services for effective care transitions and discharge planning, and contributing to the overall functioning of the facility through group work and collaboration across programs.

For Full-time Positions:

For Casual/Part-time Positions:

Qualifications:
  • A diploma in addictions or social services is required; however, lesser academic qualifications may be accepted if the candidate is willing to complete relevant CAMH coursework.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI).
  • Completion of a support and assist course for medication is required upon hiring.
  • Basic counseling and screening skills.
  • Crisis intervention skills and conflict resolution experience are essential for supporting clients.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in recovery, harm reduction, therapeutic engagement, homelessness, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet client and operational needs.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage routine and administrative tasks.
  • Consistent use of a non-judgmental approach in prevention support work and interactions with stakeholders.
  • Awareness of community and district treatment resources and partners providing social/health services.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • A Class G driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations in the Mental Health and Addictions field is an asset.
  • Experience in both abstinence and harm reduction environments is also an asset.
