Job Opportunity: Program Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to join our team at IISD Experimental Lakes Area. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in the administration of our program, reporting to the Interim Executive Director.

About the Role

The Program Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling work plans and financial resources, implementing and evaluating activities, reporting, and managing the overall program cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Management: Manage human, financial, and technical resources for the delivery of the IISD-ELA Program.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Evaluate delivery of activities, track progress, and liaise with government and funders.
  • Staff Management: Direct staff delivering programs on organizational policies and procedures and participate in policy development.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the IISD-ELA Board, including developing administrative procedures and maintaining accurate corporate records.
Requirements
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in program/project management, including financial management, outcomes tracking, and funder reporting.
  • Government and International Experience: Experience working directly with Canadian federal and/or provincial governments and within the international development sector.
  • Corporate Governance: Experience in corporate governance, including developing governance procedures and implementing policies to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Education: Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in relevant fields, preferably with a focus on economics, sustainable development, natural resource management, or accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Program Management: Extensive program and project management experience, including planning, budgeting, contract management, financial and human resourcing, liaison, outcomes tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with program monitoring applications, administration tools, and reporting against key performance indicators.
  • Financial Management: Experience in developing comprehensive budgets and adept at monitoring financial performance.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other project management tools.
