Position Overview:
With food insecurity at an all-time high in Canada, we are seeking a dedicated and results-driven Director of Philanthropy. This role is crucial in identifying and engaging new individual and foundation donors to elevate our fundraising efforts in alignment with our strategic objectives.

The Director of Philanthropy will collaborate closely with a team of passionate professionals, providing leadership and support to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership
  • Develop and implement strategies for individual and foundation giving, focusing on both annual and capital initiatives.
  • Work with the Chief Development & Communications Officer to create and execute the annual fundraising plan, establishing revenue targets and key performance indicators.
  • Utilize internal data and market insights to inform donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Collaborate with various teams to align proposals with financial priorities.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy rooted in our values of equity and community engagement.
Major Gift Fundraising
  • Design and execute comprehensive strategies for major gifts, including planned giving and alternative asset contributions.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals and foundations, aiming for significant revenue contributions.
  • Develop tailored approaches for donor engagement and recognition.
Team Management
  • Encourage collaboration within the Development and Communications department to enhance fundraising efforts.
  • Mentor and guide a team of fundraising professionals, ensuring accountability for revenue goals.
  • Oversee donor engagement and stewardship processes to support fundraising objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant fundraising experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in managing major gifts programs with direct revenue accountability.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in financial management and reporting.
Preferred:
  • Education in fundraising or related fields.
  • Experience with capital campaigns.
