Learning Commons Assistant

The Kenora Catholic District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Commons Assistant to join our team. As an instructional partner, you will co-teach and co-learn with students and staff to meet the school's curriculum objectives and support the goals outlined in the Board Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities- Initiate and manage the purchase of educational resources and maintain internal records of expenditures.
- Utilize and maintain the automated library database program to control circulation of resources, process inventory, and create report documentation.
- Perform regular supervision as assigned by the Principal.
- Support student inquiry and research, and provide opportunities for staff and students to work in small groups and independently using technology.
- Align resources to ministry initiatives and integrate Catholic values and principles into the learning commons space and activities.
- Partner with staff to support academic learning in the classroom and assist/accompany teachers on field trips as required.
- General supervision duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
- Library Technician qualifications from a post-secondary institution or similar preferred.
- Employment experience related to working with children or youth.
- Ability to adapt as required to meet the needs of a diverse school community.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Proactive and able to seize the moment to provide learning opportunities in response to student need and interest.
- Comfortable using and learning with technology.
- Demonstrated ability for taking initiative and serving as a catalyst to implement change.
- Ability to organize and manage learning common resources, including books, maker space resources, and electronics.
- Able to collaborate well with both teachers and students.
- Self-directed and a life-long learner.
- Able to integrate Catholic values into the space and activities.
