About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Commons Facilitator to join our team at Rocky View Schools. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in creating a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that supports the academic and personal growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective learning strategies to promote digital literacy and information literacy among students and staff
  • Manage and maintain the Learning Commons collection, including ordering and processing materials, conducting inventory, and coordinating inter-Learning Commons loans and audio-visual bookings
  • Provide research assistance and support to students and staff, including responding to reference questions and recommending instructional materials
  • Design and implement engaging displays and exhibits to promote literacy and learning
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement curriculum-aligned programs and services
  • Manage the online Learning Commons database, including cataloguing, circulation, patrons, reporting, and local administration
  • Provide support in the use of emerging technology in learning and critical thinking
  • Develop and maintain the school's Learning Commons webpage in accordance with RVS site policies
  • Manage the Learning Commons budget and coordinate book sales and other literary events
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Library Information Technology program or related field
  • Minimum 1-year related experience working in a Learning Commons or resource center
  • Previous experience working in a school division environment is considered an asset
  • An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered
  • Proficient knowledge of Learning Commons practices and skills with the ability to incorporate technology into performance and procedures
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment, computer technology, and applications used in Learning Commons environments
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
