Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist, operating under the guidance of the area supervisor and department manager, is tasked with the proficient use of MRI technology and associated equipment. This role demands minimal supervision, independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct MRI procedures aimed at medical diagnosis, including evaluating requisitions for suitable examinations.
  • Gather relevant patient history and screen individuals for MRI safety and potential contrast reactions.
  • Deliver patient care and monitor individuals throughout the imaging process.
  • Select appropriate techniques and position patients effectively for imaging.
  • Post-process acquired images and maintain a safe MRI environment.
  • Provide education on MRI safety and adhere to sterile techniques when necessary.
  • Perform clerical tasks related to patient care, ensuring accurate data transfer to PACS.

Work Schedule

This position requires daytime and evening hours, with a commitment of 75 hours biweekly. Additionally, participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend coverage is expected.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Radiation Technology program with CAMRT certification in MRI.
  • Current or eligible registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) Program from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada within the last year or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate.
  • Proven ability to make independent technical decisions and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
