Position Overview

The MRI Imaging Specialist plays a vital role in the daily management of MRI operations, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety. This position involves supervising the MRI suites, guiding staff, and instructing students while maintaining compliance with departmental protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational aspects of MRI suites, including staff direction and student instruction.
  • Ensure patient requisitions align with departmental standards and correlate clinical histories with imaging procedures.
  • Perform complex imaging procedures under the indirect supervision of a radiologist, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MRI technology and procedures, ensuring ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technology program.
  • Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and licensure from the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP).
  • Previous experience in MRI is preferred.
  • Proficiency in I.V. insertion and the ability to make independent decisions regarding diagnostic results.
  • Competency in operating computer systems related to patient information management.
  • Fluency in additional languages, particularly French, is considered an asset.

Work Schedule

  • This is a permanent part-time role, requiring 37.5 hours biweekly.
  • Availability for call and shift work, including evenings, nights, and weekends, is essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $39.96. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, along with a defined benefit pension plan.

Additionally, candidates may qualify for a signing bonus and relocation assistance under a defined Return of Service contract.
