Position Overview:

This role is crucial for the design, planning, installation, and configuration of robust server infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure the deployment of instances, manage operating system updates, oversee configuration changes, and optimize system performance. A strong background in both application and infrastructure components is essential for maintaining a hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on security.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:

  • Analyze the relationship between infrastructure systems and business requirements.
  • Provide advanced support, including comprehensive resolution and root cause analysis, collaborating with various teams and vendors.
  • Work alongside application teams to monitor critical systems, ensuring compliance with service level agreements and facilitating proactive issue resolution.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of data center hardware and software across multiple locations, including participation in on-call rotations.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to team members and managed service partners as needed.
  • Conduct audits of hardware and software to ensure adherence to established standards and policies.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and perform necessary system administration tasks.

Future Initiatives:

  • Engage in a collaborative team environment to expand our cloud infrastructure capabilities.
  • Partner with project and development teams to evaluate technology and hosting needs for mission-critical systems.
  • Research and analyze infrastructure technologies to propose and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Utilize technical expertise to ensure the delivery of scalable and secure infrastructure resources.
  • Assist in planning upgrades for systems nearing the end of their lifecycle.
  • Implement cloud backup strategies that align with disaster recovery policies.
  • Establish a comprehensive alerting framework and update management for cloud components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and processes for all changes and implementations.
  • Support the adoption of an Infrastructure-as-Code approach for cloud management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with both cloud and on-premises infrastructure platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously, lead projects, and balance business needs with technical constraints.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative team player with a willingness to explore new technologies and embrace change.
  • Strong understanding of computer and enterprise security principles.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with Nutanix hardware is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud and security technologies are advantageous.
