POSITION OVERVIEW:
CME Ltd. West Coast Division is on the lookout for a skilled Marine Electrical Technician to join our team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marine Technician will operate under limited supervision to install, commission, and repair electrical and automation systems on commercial vessels. Key responsibilities include:
- Executing cable installations and troubleshooting marine hardware.
- Testing and modifying software as needed.
- Utilizing electrical/control/electronic theory to resolve various technical challenges.
- Interpreting complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to fulfill assignments accurately.
- Providing technical training to clients regarding system installation, operation, and maintenance.
- Collaborating with electricians on the installation and troubleshooting of additional marine systems.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for composing detailed service reports and ensuring customer satisfaction through professional conduct and appearance. They will offer technical support to internal teams to resolve issues effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A diploma (red-seal) or degree in electrical & automation, or equivalent education and experience.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting complex marine or terrestrial electronic systems.
- Proficiency in reading complex schematics and blueprints.
- Physical capability to lift 40-50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Comfortable working aboard vessels at sea and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Windows operating system configuration and administration.
- Training in Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights.
- Familiarity with marine-specific equipment and classification society regulations.
- Experience in the installation and service of marine electrical and electronic systems.
- Knowledge of networking principles and IT skills.
- Understanding of motor control system theory and interfacing electronics with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position offers a full-time schedule with a competitive pay rate. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance and vacation, will be available upon successful completion of the probationary period. CME is a unionized workplace.
