Position Overview

Arcadis is in search of a Director of Business Operations for the Buildings Engineering sector within the Places Business Area in Canada. This role is pivotal in steering the strategic direction and operational success of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Director of Business Operations, your primary focus will be on enhancing the business unit's footprint in the region while aligning with the overarching Places strategy and financial objectives. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  1. Executing the Places strategy:
    Oversee the business unit with full accountability for profit and loss, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services while driving profitable growth in alignment with business goals.
  2. Inspiring and developing a diverse workforce:
    Attract, set performance expectations, and evaluate team members to cultivate a skilled and motivated workforce capable of achieving program objectives.
  3. Formulating and executing the business plan:
    Ensure the team comprehends the business plan and their individual contributions towards its success, emphasizing quality, global delivery, and integration.
  4. Identifying and engaging clients:
    Drive organic revenue growth through exceptional service delivery and by establishing strong client relationships.
  5. Fostering collaboration and building effective teams:
    Develop lasting relationships with clients to ascertain their needs, ensuring satisfaction and enhancing retention to boost revenue.
  6. Guiding and mentoring team leaders:
    Ensure all projects are positioned for success through appropriate governance and oversight, aiming for improved client satisfaction.
  7. Recognizing and nurturing talent:
    Encourage career advancement by directing individuals towards suitable development opportunities.
  8. Making informed resource allocation decisions:
    Maintain the integrity of the team structure to optimize resource utilization effectively.
  9. Managing service delivery risks:
    Ensure adherence to governance protocols within the business unit to achieve service excellence and client satisfaction.
  10. Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of client needs:
    Identify key trends and emerging opportunities within the market.
  11. Building relationships across Arcadis:
    Encourage collaboration to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
  12. Creating a safe and inclusive workplace:
    Prioritize health and wellbeing while identifying talent to support career growth.
Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer or Architect license in Canada, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in leading and expanding a significant business function within a professional services environment. You will possess the ability to inspire multidisciplinary teams towards a unified goal and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities.

Exceptional intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility is essential. You will exhibit outstanding communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels, particularly with senior management. Your technical expertise will enable you to identify and mitigate risks associated with managing a design-focused business unit. Additionally, you will possess well-honed commercial acumen, a solid understanding of the industry, and a demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset.
