Position Overview

The Prepared Foods Department Supervisor plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the prepared foods section. This position is responsible for managing team schedules and ensuring efficient workflow within the department. The supervisor maintains attractive displays of prepared foods, coffee, and juice, while supporting the team leader and associate leaders to facilitate seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises and assigns tasks to team members in the prepared foods department.
  • Collaborates with the prepared foods trainer to develop a high-performing team and reduce turnover.
  • Assists in onboarding new team members using structured training materials.
  • Ensures cleanliness and proper stock rotation of all display cases and shelves.
  • Manages the opening and closing procedures of the department.
  • Guarantees that all team members receive their scheduled breaks.
  • Communicates any team concerns to the team leader and associate team leader.
  • Sets and upholds the highest standards of retail execution.
  • Encourages a positive atmosphere of teamwork, respect, and high morale.
  • Monitors customer traffic and needs, directing team members to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Mentors and develops team members to sustain a high-performance environment.
  • Conducts thorough and timely performance evaluations.
  • Consistently embodies and communicates the vision and goals of the organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of prepared foods department policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and team-building skills.
  • Aptitude for teaching in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Comprehensive product knowledge.
  • Advanced understanding of safety and regulatory policies.
  • Proficient in mathematical skills for evaluating financial performance and managing inventory.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with email, Microsoft Office, and relevant operational applications.
Desired Experience
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a retail environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and walking for 6-8 hours during an 8-hour workday.
  • Hand use involves single grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing/pulling.
  • Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Capability to work in both wet and dry conditions.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment, including knives and electric pallet jacks.
  • May require the use of ladders.
