Position Overview
The Infrastructure Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and managing both in-house and subcontracted work. This role is crucial in maintaining operational efficiency and profitability while supporting the management of capital improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of infrastructure conditions, including pavements, signage, and other assets, and coordinate necessary maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with management to determine optimal strategies for asset compliance, balancing cost and efficiency.
- Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adherence to contract specifications and quality standards.
- Supervise maintenance teams, facilitating training and performance evaluations to enhance workforce effectiveness.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with on-site teams during incidents.
- Work with fleet management for the upkeep and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Oversee project assets and materials, identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
- Ensure successful completion of work orders and manage documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Liaise with various stakeholders, including government agencies and the public, to address concerns related to infrastructure.
- Assist in the selection and negotiation processes with subcontractors for maintenance work.
- Participate in emergency response rotations as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in basic mathematical functions and calculations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and contracts.
- Experience in report writing and business correspondence.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Word, with a solid understanding of internet resources.
- A keen sense of safety awareness and the ability to recognize hazards in the workplace.
- High School Diploma and a minimum of five years of experience in the construction or road maintenance sector, including supervisory roles.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Work Environment
The role involves a mix of office and fieldwork, requiring adaptability to various physical demands and environmental conditions. The incumbent will be exposed to outdoor weather variations and may encounter hazardous materials or conditions.
