We are currently in search of a Project Coordinator to oversee the renowned Gordie Howe - Bridging North America Project. This role is essential for managing and directing all field construction activities for designated subcontractors and craft areas, ensuring adherence to Canadian Bridge plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Superintendents to strategize and direct the work of all involved subcontractors and crafts for assigned construction activities, ensuring alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain comprehensive records confirming that subcontractor supervisors and construction personnel are well-trained and knowledgeable about safety policies, environmental standards, quality requirements, specifications, and work plans.
  • Assist in ensuring optimal material utilization and compliance with specified quality standards during construction activities.
  • Support the Superintendent in managing contractor activities alongside the project engineering core and contracts administration team.
  • Engage in the development of detailed execution schedules, monitoring work activities and manpower needs to meet established deadlines while optimizing productivity.
  • Contribute to the scope of work development for subcontract execution and the construction plan, managing subcontractor activities effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with design and quality standards throughout the construction process.
  • Coordinate field engineering, information management, and construction activities efficiently.
  • Oversee assigned activities related to various construction scopes, field change management, and project controls.
  • Actively promote a strong safety culture on the project, integrating safety into all work performed.
  • Uphold and support Aecon's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Conduct safety audits and provide reports as necessary.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across all construction areas.
  • Implement the Safety Program for all subcontractors, fostering a safe work environment and ensuring adherence to safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Document and report all incidents and injuries promptly.
  • Assist in managing small tools and consumables to ensure cost-effective and productive construction execution.
  • Aid in the management of construction equipment, including planning, monitoring, and controlling to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Provide direct support to project and construction management in planning and utilizing appropriate methods for all construction activities.
  • Analyze situations, identify potential issues, and evaluate realistic options; recommend and implement suitable courses of action.
  • Demonstrate knowledge across various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, engineering drawings, and related documents.
  • Offer ongoing constructability insights to the design team and working trade designs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Confirm that project materials and workmanship align with established Quality Standards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Corrective Action and Preventative Action for Non-Conformances.
  • Assist in resolving technical challenges encountered during project construction.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to develop and implement effective work plans and procedures.
  • Support schedule development and updates for construction execution.
  • Monitor productivity and work performance of employees and subcontractors to ensure adherence to project plans and budget.
  • Advise supervisors of potential challenges, work interferences, or scheduling issues.
  • Help organize and prioritize subcontractor tasks across multiple scopes of work to meet critical deadlines.
  • Undertake additional assignments as directed by superiors to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil.
  • Relevant craft certification, training, and 1 to 3 years of experience appropriate for the scope of assignment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to perform job duties effectively.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national regulations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints.
  • Proficiency in various computer programs and applications relevant to job execution.
