Purpose of this Opportunity: The IWK Health Centre is seeking a highly qualified researcher to fill the position of Accelerate Chair, Research Services. This role is designed to catalyze research activity in women's and gender diverse health at the IWK Health Centre.
Focus of this Specific Accelerate Chair: The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership and expertise in the development of the IWK Health Centre's research program in women's and gender diverse health. This will involve bridging to clinical teams, community needs, current research needs and trends to develop a platform and pathway for the IWK Health Centre to advance in this area.
Funding: The IWK Research & Innovation Accelerate Chair is proudly funded by the IWK Foundation and its community of generous donors.
Terms of Support: Up to $200,000 each year for a maximum of five (5) years.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership and expertise in the development of the IWK Health Centre's research program in women's and gender diverse health.
- Bridging to clinical teams, community needs, current research needs and trends to develop a platform and pathway for the IWK Health Centre to advance in this area.
- Developing and implementing a research development plan that aligns with the research and clinical priorities of the IWK Health Centre.
- Engaging with clinical and community teams to develop a research agenda that addresses the needs of women and gender diverse individuals.
- Securing external research funding to support the research program.
The successful candidate will have:
- A PhD or MD or MD/PhD degree.
- Previous leadership experience in research in academic and/or hospital settings.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in women's health.

I. Career Stage and Development
• Describe your current career stage and long-term career objectives.
• Briefly describe how you would catalyze research activity in women's and gender diverse health at the IWK Health Centre.
• Describe your involvement and/or contributions to your current institution.
• Statement that you will abide by all IWK Health Centre policies.
II. Proposed Research Development Plan
Provide an outline of your proposed development program for women's and gender diverse health research at the IWK Health Centre (maximum 4 pages, excluding budget, figures and references) highlighting:
• Alignment with the research and clinical priorities of the IWK Health Centre.
• Engagement plan for clinical and community teams in women and gender diverse health.
• A research timeline with one-year, three-year and five-year plans.
• A long-term strategy to obtain external research support.
• Anticipated clinical impact for IWK patients and families.
• Budget project for the 5 years (1 page).
An outline of a mentorship and training plan (maximum 1 page) highlighting:
• Your record of mentoring trainees.
• Your plan to attract and develop trainees, new researchers.
