Director, Group Insurance Data Insights & Analytics

This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of two consecutive days in our Waterloo, ON office every other week, plus a fifth assigned day per month. You're welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and some roles may require more frequent in-office work.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Director, Group Insurance Data Insights & Analytics to join our Group Insurance team. This key role supports the entire Group Insurance Leadership team and their respective organizations.

The Director, Group Insurance Data Insights & Analytics, will be responsible for developing the data strategy for the Group Insurance business and delivering and implementing that strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a data analytics roadmap for the business, collaborating with leaders across the organization to understand the current state and identify the target state.
  • Design and implement reporting and business intelligence solutions using enterprise tools and platforms.
  • Develop new analytics capabilities, collaborating with finance, actuarial, underwriting, distribution, and operational claims and administration teams.
  • Build and expand expertise about data and data flows in Group business applications and enterprise data platforms.
  • Partner with the enterprise Data Governance and Quality team to build and run processes, policies, and tools to oversee and manage Equitable's data.
  • Build and support an engaged data community across Group Insurance business.
  • Define and track key performance indicators and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of data governance and quality programs.
  • Lead and guide a high-performing team of professionals who utilize a collaborative approach with a focus on achieving outcomes.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience with a mix of business/data analytics, financial results, and profitability management, predictive analytics/data science.
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams responsible for data management and analytics.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data management, and data quality processes and techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable track record of working cross-functionally with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading, guiding, and coaching data teams.
