Reports To: Senior Manager, ESG Reporting

Position Overview: CAPREIT is seeking an Analyst dedicated to enhancing CAPREIT's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and reporting. This position will work closely with the Senior Manager, ESG, and collaborate with colleagues involved in sustainability and social impact efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in Sustainability and a solid understanding of ESG reporting and disclosures, particularly in relation to GRESB. Given the rapidly evolving nature of this field, we are looking for an individual who is adaptable and embraces change with enthusiasm. A strong passion for sustainability is essential, as the candidate will play a key role in advancing CAPREIT's ESG practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify and collect ESG data.
  • Assist in the preparation of content for CAPREIT's annual ESG report, adhering to GRI, SASB, and TCFD standards.
  • Support the development of public disclosure reports, ratings, and surveys in accordance with global benchmarks such as GRESB.
  • Contribute to the creation of sustainability and ESG content for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage or support innovative ESG integration projects aligned with CAPREIT's objectives.
  • Aid in the formulation of CAPREIT's ESG policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Facilitate the integration of ESG considerations into CAPREIT's overall Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Assist in automating ESG data processes and relevant IT integrations.
  • Support improvements in ESG data collection, reporting, and the establishment of effective controls.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, including project management tasks related to reporting processes.

Professional Qualifications:

  • A university degree in sustainability, environmental science/management, or a related field, with a foundational understanding of the commercial real estate sector.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in the ESG domain is required.
  • Experience with ESG Reporting and GRESB submissions is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with corporate governance, social, and environmental issues, with a preference for expertise in climate change.
  • A postgraduate degree and/or sustainability-related certification would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are crucial.
