Manufacturing Team Leader

SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Team Leader is accountable for overseeing the allocation of tasks among all hourly production personnel during their designated shift. This position also involves directing and managing certain indirect personnel within the Skilled Trades, Quality Assurance, and Logistics sectors. The Manufacturing Team Leader operates on a rotating schedule across three shifts, with a rotation occurring every two weeks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer insights on pertinent matters to the management team to ensure that issues arising during off shifts are effectively communicated and addressed.
- Establish priorities for tasks within the skilled trades sector based on operational challenges, necessary preventative maintenance, and customer requirements.
- Evaluate and manage performance metrics including production rates, scrap levels, downtime, rework, and overall utilization across the facility.
- Guarantee compliance with all customer quality standards and take necessary actions in response to any issues, which may include line repairs, rework, containment measures, and escalation as per established procedures.
- Deliver essential guidance and training to team members in areas such as labor relations, quality assurance, production metrics, and equipment management.
- Engage in and lead initiatives aimed at achieving annual goals and objectives, implementing Lean Manufacturing principles, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Ensure effective communication with plant associates on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Participate in and ensure the completion of regular audits for all production lines and the facility.
- Provide feedback to management regarding training needs for employees to enhance their skill sets and assist in the scheduling and delivery of training programs.
- Assess staffing requirements and assign tasks to meet project deadlines as determined by higher management.
- Implement, advocate for, and enforce company policies while ensuring compliance with departmental procedures related to Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Labor Relations, and Human Rights.
- Conduct performance reviews for assigned personnel, monitor their work output, and provide necessary counseling or disciplinary actions to foster improvement.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: (1) Onboard, train, mentor, supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership to assigned employees. (2) Direct and manage indirect personnel in skilled trades, quality control, inventory management, and shipping and receiving operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred technical diploma from a community college along with 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
- Supervisory experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
- Technical expertise in molding processes, automated assembly, and equipment troubleshooting/repair is advantageous, with experience in plastic injection being a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP Hana is considered beneficial.
- Strong multitasking, troubleshooting, and conflict resolution skills are preferred.
