Camp Team Leader

Job Summary:

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Camp Team Leader to oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality summer children's camp program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of students in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, ensuring the delivery of engaging and safe activities for participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement program plans, ensuring alignment with the Municipality's core values and competencies
  • Lead a team of students in the planning, set-up, and execution of program activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, and drama
  • Act as a resource and support for staff in areas where development is required, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including those related to participant safety and well-being
  • Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders, providing regular updates on program activities and progress
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of one summer camp program within a specific community, working closely with local partners and stakeholders
  • Implement the philosophies of HIGH FIVE, promoting healthy child development and well-being
  • Manage administrative duties, including record-keeping, reporting, and budgeting

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a recreation or child and youth-related program, with a minimum of one year of experience in program planning and delivery
  • Previous experience working as a Camp Leader or in a similar camp environment, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality programs and services
  • Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (WSIB approved) and Certified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • Valid Province of Ontario driver's license and reliable motor vehicle
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends

Essential Physical and/or Safety Requirements:

  • Bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and squatting, with the ability to lift up to 22.73 kgs (50 lbs)
  • Walking on rough and level surfaces, with the ability to stand for extended periods
  • Reaching above and below shoulder level, with the ability to handle objects weighing up to 22.73 kgs (50 lbs)
  • Lifting, carrying, and transferring objects, with the ability to lift up to 22.73 kgs (50 lbs)
