Role of the Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Cheme Engineering, you will leverage your leadership and management expertise to ensure that projects are delivered punctually, meet specifications, and adhere to budgetary constraints for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and familiarity with capital projects within the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or science and technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage assigned team members
  • Define project scope and estimate engineering fees
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients
  • Maintain budgets and schedules
  • Estimate costs and oversee equipment installation
  • Lead project execution, coordinating contractors and vendors, and providing progress reports to clients
  • Supervise equipment selection, sizing calculations, and P&ID development in accordance with client specifications
  • Draft construction specifications, user requirements, functional specifications, and scope documentation
  • Prepare and review commissioning and validation protocols
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing and coordinate on-site commissioning and validation activities
  • Conduct site reviews and troubleshooting at client locations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Science (Engineering) or a physical science from a recognized Canadian university
  • Project Management Professional designation is an asset but not mandatory
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in project management and process development or technology transfer
  • Experience managing capital projects ranging from $5,000 to $20,000,000
  • Proficient in managing projects, systems, personnel, financial resources, and client relationships
  • Experience in supervising team members and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English, with strong communication skills
  • Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with clients and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with standard business practices, including quoting and marketing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project for document preparation and project scheduling
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
