360°kids is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless and at-risk youth and families in York Region. We provide a comprehensive continuum of care through various programs and services, ensuring the health and well-being of young people and helping them achieve stability.

Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Relief Youth Workers to join our team. You will play a vital role in providing direct support to youth in various settings, including drop-in centers, emergency shelters, and SHINE programs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for youth by ensuring their basic needs are met (food, bedding, hygiene).
  • Respond to immediate needs, provide support, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Collaborate with youth on their case plans, goals, and activities, making referrals or warm transfers as needed.
  • Provide ongoing life skills training (where applicable), mentorship, and encouragement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including case notes and daily statistics.
  • Assist youth in assessing their housing needs and connect them with resources for securing stable accommodation.
  • Advocate for clients by making appropriate referrals to internal programs and external partners.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in a child/youth related field (e.g., Child and Youth Work, Social Service Work, Psychology, Sociology) or equivalent experience working with youth.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with at-risk or street-involved youth.
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction principles and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent client-focused counseling skills and role modeling abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, promoting positive teamwork, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community resources and the ability to effectively advocate for clients.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
