Youth Support Specialist Role

As a Youth Support Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in guiding youth through challenging times and empowering them to build brighter futures. You'll provide direct support, mentorship, and resources to help them navigate their journey towards stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive case management services, including needs assessments, goal setting, and progress monitoring for up to four youth simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with youth to identify housing solutions and connect them with appropriate resources, such as Housing Support Workers or community agencies.
  • Facilitate weekly resident meetings to foster a sense of community, address concerns, and promote open communication.
  • Offer crisis intervention, conflict resolution support, and guidance during challenging situations.
  • Conduct thorough intake processes within 72 hours of admission, utilizing standardized tools and assessments.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residents by conducting nightly room checks and adhering to established protocols for medication administration.
  • Build strong relationships with youth, families, community partners, and stakeholders to create a supportive network of care.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a child/youth related field (e.g., Child and Youth Work, Social Service Work, Psychology, Sociology).
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with at-risk or street-involved youth.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable individuals.
