Job Description

**Job Title:** Youth Support Specialist

**Job Summary:** 360°kids is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide client-centered support to youth in our drop-in, emergency shelter, and SHINE environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for youth, ensuring their basic needs are met.
  • Assess and respond to the immediate needs of youth, providing support and resolving conflicts.
  • Collaborate with youth to develop and implement case plans, setting goals and making referrals as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, promoting a sense of community and well-being.
  • Provide life skills training, support, and mentoring to help youth achieve their goals.
  • Document daily activities, including case notes and statistics, to inform program development and evaluation.
  • Work with youth to identify and access housing options, making referrals to internal and external resources as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing support and encouragement to help youth break cycles of poverty and homelessness.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a child/youth-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years' experience working with at-risk or street-involved youth.
  • Extensive knowledge of harm reduction principles and trauma-informed care.
  • Demonstrated client-focused counseling skills and role modeling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse needs and situations.
  • Broad knowledge of community resources and ability to advocate for clients and make professional referrals.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnights, with the ability to respond to incidents as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract, with $2M liability insurance an asset.
