Division Overview
Our facility focuses on producing chassis systems through advanced hydroforming, automated welding, and electrostatic coating processes, all within a large, safety-oriented environment.
Position SummaryThe role involves leading the design, construction, and enhancement of assembly processes necessary for the production of full perimeter frames, front and rear cradles, and rear twist axles. This position also oversees the prototype process to validate the assembly methods for these components. The engineer will spearhead the development and optimization of packaging techniques for both new and existing projects, including the selection or modification of bins and dunnage. Responsibilities include updating current plant layout drawings and implementing modifications to existing lines and the installation of new processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage large-scale projects from initiation to completion, including concept development, feasibility studies, design, and final approvals.
- Conduct manpower efficiency studies using time and motion analysis or standard data.
- Prepare necessary reports, charts, and documentation for engineering records and projects.
- Collaborate with various departments and clients to design solutions that enhance production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing material handling logistics, including aisle layouts and bin placements.
- Oversee tooling design, construction, approval processes, and capital budgets.
- Supervise the relocation and installation of equipment.
- Contribute to the establishment of preventative maintenance programs and spare parts for new machinery.
- Address quality, operational, production, and maintenance issues.
- Implement customer-approved engineering changes, ensuring all documentation is updated accordingly.
- Lead the development of packaging methods for new and existing programs, including recommendations for custom racks.
- Support the quoting process for new business with packaging recommendations and plant layout designs.
- Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within the automotive or related sectors.
- Degree or diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Practical experience in cost estimation and project management.
- Familiarity with CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Effective presentation skills for client interactions.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
